Reviews of top spanish white wines
INTRODUCTION
The Spanish wine scene is
overwhelming. Thousands of interesting wines, some of them among the
best in the world. I taste 400 of them every year. Most are good, a few
unforgettable. I started this unbiased review to share my best
discoveries with the world. I taste at the Spanish Wine Tasting Association and run
The Madrid Spain Tapas Tour
Amarre Verdejo
2008 Spearmint Most probably you already know
the Rueda wines from Verdejo and their tropical fruit aromas. Well,
here comes something different, tropical background aromas but
something different on stage, pure spearmint. Give it a try, you will
not regret it.
Pazo de Señorans
Selección de Añada 2004 You much I had heard about this wine
that I feared it was not going to fullfill my exceptations. It did not,
what a great wine.
V3 (Verdejo Viejas
Viñas) 2006 A Rueda wine made of Verdejo with a 8 month oak
aging over the dead yeast. Impresive palate, species and toasted after
taste aromas. More than worth it.
Mas den Compte blanc 1998 tasted in 2010
Varietats: 50% Garnatxa Blanca, 25% Picapoll Blanc, 25% Xarel.lo
The best white wine I have had in years. Beautiful orange colour.
Impressive complex nose that after a few minutes of breathing becomes a
intense cotton candy fragrance. Taste explosion in the palate that ends
with an intense taste of tropical fruit, oily, bright acidity, never
ending finish.
